Vet Examining Dog

VET AGREEMENT/CONTRACT

WE OFFER A FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM!

In an effort to save more lives, Ruby Whiskers Animal Rescue facilitates expedited adoptions, though some pets may necessitate additional veterinary procedures such as vaccinations or spaying/neutering.

If you choose to adopt a pet requiring vetting, the adoption fee must be paid in full before taking the pet home. Even though you have paid for the pet, the animal is still legally an RWAR animal until the pet has been fully vetted and the adoption contract has been sent and signed by the adopter.

Ruby Whiskers Animal Rescue will assume responsibility and cover the costs of core veterinary care until the completion of sterilization/final vaccinations.

The vetting RWAR covers in your adoption fee for DOGS: spay/neuter (must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets), microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine(s), 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and general wellness care at intake which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention). You will also be financially responsible for monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.

The vetting RWAR covers in your adoption fee for cats: spay/neuter (must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets), microchip, rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccines, SNAP test, and general wellness care at intake which includes dewormer, flea/tick preventatives.

If you have taken the pet home straight off transport there is a strong possibility that they may come into your care ill, and RWAR will take responsibility for it until the pet is well. After the pet is well under the foster-to-adopt program if the pet becomes ill, injured, or deceased in your care you are financially responsible for the cost of those incidences.

During the foster-to-adopt period, the pet will remain in your care exclusively, unless you do not adhere to the vetting appointments scheduled by RWAR including the vaccine schedule and spay and neuter appointments provided by RWAR. As a foster-to-adopt parent, the pet is still legally and rightfully owned by RWAR. Failure to comply with the scheduled vaccines and surgery appts will forfeit your right of fostering resulting in the removal of adoption rights.

Once the core vetting provided by RWAR is concluded, the animal will be fully vetted, and the adoption contract will be provided for your signature, confirming ownership.

***For puppies, adherence to the NPOG (no paws on the ground) rule is crucial. This stipulation mandates that puppies refrain from touching common ground areas, including public spaces and outdoor environments like your front yard. Your home and your backyard are THE ONLY approved areas where their paws should touch the ground. Even when you bring them to the vet or to us for vaccines their paws should never touch the ground. If you need a kennel to transport that can be arranged. This precautionary measure is implemented to safeguard against exposure to dirt, bacteria, hazardous substances, and potential diseases, thus protecting animals with either incomplete vaccinations or compromised immune systems. If you do not adhere to this protocol and the puppy becomes ill or contracts distemper or parvo in your care you are financially responsible for treating the puppy.

****Puppies spays/neuters will be scheduled through RWAR SOLELY. They will be spayed and neutered anywhere from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. WE DO NOT MAKE EXCEPTONS and extend the time frame past 16 weeks. Do not ask for an extension. IF you are NOT in adherence to this schedule we suggest you adopt elsewhere.

***ALL ADOPTION FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE.
